The funeverse poets are thrilled to welcome Chris Riddell, The Waterstones Children's Laureate, to our site. One of Chris's aims is to encourage children to sketch more so Maureen's opening poem is a call to arms! Chris, the Children's Laureate Does a doodle every day He's asked us all to join him To doodle as we play... |
We can doodle as we eat
We can doodle in our bedrooms
We can doodle in the street
We can doodle dancing dodos
In their sparkly ballet shoes
Or a pirate knitting jumpers
For some flying kangaroos
We can doodle with our grandads
We can doodle with our friends
We can doodle using pencils
We can doodle using pens
We can doodle prancing poodles
In some glitter, gold and blue
Or a spotty, dotty, rabbit
And a sunbathing gnu
We can doodle with our fingers
We can doodle with our hands
We can doodle in the garden
We can doodle in the sand
You can doodle when you're busy
Or you've nothing else to do
You can be like Chris, the Laureate
And do a doodle too.
You can see Chris Riddell's images here
