Funny poet - Lesley Moss

I write middle grade novels, comic and fantasy; picture book texts and, of course, funny verse! I decided I was a writer when I was five and have always integrated writing and story in my creative work. After an art degree and time in community theatre, my work in the arts included an Arts Council funded Mime Animateur residency in the Midlands, UK, with children and teachers, involving story creation, drama and mime. I developed a popular primary school storyclub, including the editing of a magazine of children's flash fiction and cartoons, directing/script editing a storytelling performance, hosting storyparties and more, and worked in local youth theatre. I studied and taught the Alexander Technique as well.

The ORANGE poem, by Lesley Moss
What rhymes with ORANGE?
Let's peel one and see ...
One Quarter Of The Orange
O, the colour and feel
of sweet orange peel,
the tempting torment
of the scent!
But Luce stole the juice
intended for Bruce,
he was left with
the peel and the pith.
And although Luce denied
it, Bruce soon espied
juice and pips
dotted all round her lips.
So he fought her
for the last quarter.

Monsters, Monsters Everywhere ... by Lesley Moss
(Another little monster rhyme!)
Monsters in the attic,
monsters in the sink,
monsters in the loo -
they went there for a drink!
They're coming to get you ...
Monsters in the washing,
monsters hanging out to dry,
monsters in my wellies
squished my toes and made me cry!
They're coming to get you ...
Monsters in the shopping,
monsters everywhere.
I think we should go after them -
do you think we dare?
We're coming to get them!
