The reason I rhyme

Once upon a time, a fairy committed a crime
when she pointed her wand my way.
With a wave of her staff, she said with a laugh,
“You’ll rhyme everything that you say.”
I replied, "You are wrong! I will not play along.
I’ll control every word that I speak."
But alas, she was right, and try as I might
her spell left me rhyming for weeks.
Nothing is worse to speak all in verse.
I cried out, "My words sound absurd."
But given some time, I found that to rhyme
was more fun. It was what I preferred!
So I hope that like me, you’ll find rhyme to be,
a fun way to speak and to write.
And as for that fairy, she’s now very wary,
lest her criminal spells bring delight.
