STOP IT! by Katherine Lynas

30/9/2013

Someone keeps putting these things in my way.
It's causing me problems,
I just have to say,
STOP IT please Someone,
Please put things away,
For I am the one that always must pay.

I've a bruise on my bottom,
A scab on my knee,
A scratch on my forearm,
Oh please can't you see,
That I'm bruised and I'm battered,
I'm blue and I'm black.
My head is all swollen
From when it went CRACK!

So STOP IT please Someone,
Please put things away,
Or I will get angry and ruin your day!

No School Rules! By Kathryn Evans

No football in the classroom,
No writing on your clothes,
No chocolate in your lunchbox
No pencils up your nose.

No shouting at the table,
No crawling on the floor,
No pulling hair, no pinching,
No sneaking out the door.

Why can't we have some Yes rules?
Some rules to make us smile?
Yes to wearing trainers,
Yes to uniforms with style.

Yes to bouncy castles,
Yes to making dens,
Yes to extra play time,
Yes to keeping hens!

Yes to eating ice cream,
Yes to playing on the grass,
Yes to making pancakes,
Yes to pets in class.

Yes to playing pirates,
Yes to stealing jewels,
Yes to taking over,
Yes to No School Rules!

At Sunny Hillside petting farm
The animals like to play,
A tournament of hide and seek
To wile away the day.

Footprints by Alex Craggs

Chirp, chirp!
Cheep, cheep!
There's snow upon the ground.
I flutter to  the floor so I can make that scrunching sound.
And while I'm busy scrunching, my footprints follow me.
So how is it my footprints are also in the tree?

'Tum'-brella by Meagan Munroe

Oh, hello there. How do you do?
I hope that you don't mind.
You see it's raining heavily
and I've left my mac behind.

So if you please, just stand right here
and be a helpful fella.
I'm happy staying warm and dry
beneath your big 'tum'-brella.

Muriel May Macarthy by Em Lynas

Muriel May Macarthy, was the clumsiest girl in the world.
She fell over her feet when she ran in the street.
She swirled and she twirled, and she whirled.

The Wind's Nose, by Lesley Moss

I’m stuck in the North Wind’s left nostril.
When the wind blows,
It sneezes me out of its nose
Into its papery breezes
And I flitter about with the leaves and the litter.
Upside down and downside up,
Just another pile of snotty rubbish
Blown from the North Wind’s nose.

Wet Dog! by Laura Louise Stewart

You want advice my little chum? Since I know humans better,
Stay and shelter by my side to keep from getting wetter.
No one wants a wet dog, it’s strange but true, you’ll see,
No one strokes a wet dog, or lets him on their knee.

You may be cute and fluffy now, get snuggles in the bed,
The minute you’re a wet dog you’ll be turfed outside instead!
No one wants a wet dog, they’ll chase you off the rug,
No one pets a wet dog, or gives mucky pups a hug.

Take it from a damp old dog, a moppish drooly hound,
Some say it’s like the sprinkler’s on whenever I’m around!
No one wants a wet dog, though it might seem weird to us,
No one lets a wet dog lick their hand without a fuss!

They will call you smelly, make you stay out ‘til you’re clean,
But I’m no fancy poodle who just likes to sit and preen,
I’m an always-wet-dog, and I don’t even care,
‘Cause I can make it rain indoors when I shake out my hair!
