YOU GET WHAT YOU ASK FOR by Rebecca Colby

“Leave the prince speechless,” I heard you declare.
“Please make him notice my eyes and gold hair.
Give him a reason to gaze on my face.
Make me stand out from the rest in this place.”

Granting your wishes was no easy task.
And now you complain? How dare you, I ask!
Go on and moan that you look like monster.
But Cinderella, my dear, you get what you ask for!

Cat Haters Beware! by Meagan Munroe

21/3/2014

Our next door neighbor, Ramona B. Slater
was a miserable gal, a real cat hater.

She would sour their milk and yank their tails
or tug on their whiskers to make them wail.

The Pirate Band by Em Lynas

Sea-sick Sid is a pirate, old.
His armpits reek of smelly mould.
With a belly full of stinky beer,
He's a most disgusting buccaneer.

I Saw It! by Laura Louise Stewart

Ever seen a vampire bat that flashed a sharp-toothed smile?
Or some slimy water goblins ride a crocodile?
I have...

Perhaps you saw an ogre eating gravy-covered toes?
Or looked up at the sky and saw some glowing UFOs?
I did...

How about some phantom lions in a creepy zoo?
I can see these spooks and more, and guess what? You can too!
Here’s how...

Think of, let’s say, a haunted house, and with your mind explore it
Now all that scary stuff you see, just take a pen and draw it!

A Cupboard So Sinister ... by Lesley Moss

12/3/2014

In Nightmare Town there is a street,
They call it Dark, and in Dark Street
there is one house, a scary house,
and I have been inside it.

And upstairs there's a gloomy room,
a room of everlasting doom
and there's a cupboard in that room,
and I have stood beside it:

so sinister, so full of mean -
(Shh, they may hear us whispering)
- green monstrous creatures, cupboard trolls,
and I have peeped inside it.

And there the mouldy cupboard folks
dwell inbetween the hats and cloaks.
The monsters wait behind the door
and I have stepped inside it ...

The monsters made me Monster Queen
though I am clean and they are green,
Now in the cupboard I reside
and we all hide inside it.

In Nightmare Town there is a street
they call it Dark, and in Dark Street
there is one house, a scary house -
why don't YOU step inside it ...?

The Pudding's Revenge by Kathryn Evans

Come here you little pudding,
My yummy scrummy cake,
Let me dig my spoon in you,
And scoff you off the plate.
Oh let me stuff your spongy fluff
Right in my chubby face.
Oh you little runaway,
You tease of a dessert,
Let me add some jam and cream
A luscious licky squirt,
Then fill my mouth from north to south,
Who’s it going to hurt?

But you’re looking at me oddly,
With your little raison eyes,
And your tiny pearly teeth,
Are somewhat a surprise,
And boy how wide your mouth goes,
I don’t want to fall inSIIIIIIIDE…….

Never Ever Insult a Pirate by Katherine Lynas

You're a lily-livered landlubber,
A poxy-faced buffoon.
Your armpits smell like rancid cod,
Your face looks like a prune.

You're a rusty-bladed buccaneer,
Who only drinks stale grog.
Your wooden leg has woodworm,
You weevil eating dog.

You're a parrot-lovin' jellyfish,
A lice-infested slob.
There is no need to spill my guts,
You rotter, Scurvy Bob!

They said I'd made the cover,
Of Sally Kindberg's, DRAW IT!
I squelched around excitedly, until the day I saw it.
