The Land of Mushy Fluff by Kathryn Evans

I try to pay attention,
When we’re learning something tough,
But my brain just goes all dreamy,
Like it’s made of mushy fluff.

I stare out of the window,
And I think of what it’s like,
To be a bird or rabbit,
Or a bumble bee in flight.

Across our chalky hopscotch,
And out of the school gate,
I watch the wind a-blowing,
And a leafy army skate.

My mind takes off behind them,
Blown swift along the lane,
It cartwheels down the pavement,
Dancing lightly over drains.

It tumbles down the hedge line,
Then falls into a hole,
And my mind is in a burrow
With a very learned mole.

He teaches me addition,
And some easy ways to times.
We even do division,
And some super, simple, rhymes.

It’s strange to be so leafy,
When once I was a child,
But the oddest of things happen,
When you let your mind run wild.

I try to pay attention,
When we’re learning something tough,
But my mind will go off wondering
To that land of mushy fluff.

'Double Maths'.......

Double maths this morning
that's followed by P.E,
I'm thinking of times tables
then bandaging my knee.

Lunch is served at 12 o clock
we line up one by one,
so revolting is the food
I feel the urge to run.

After lunch, it's History
we learn of Anne Boleyn
she lost her head, one fine day
whilst married to the King!.

Ten minutes in the playground
that's all we get for break,
considering my school mates
that's more than I can take.

Finally, Science looms
last lesson of the day
I light my Bunsen Burner
sit back and start to pray.

Unscathed I pack my books up
await the final bell,
sunlight stings my tired eyes
as I depart from hell !.

Thank you so much Kathryn. I hope you don't mind me posting this one, entitled 'My School'.

My school is just wonderful
so special and unique.
The teachers are all insects
and therefore cannot speak!.

My maths teacher, Miss Nettle
is a teeny tiny bug,
when she drank her tea last week
she fell into the mug.

Mr Slick, the English head
is always very fair,
problem is that he's a nit
so tends to like my hair.

Mrs Growl and Mr Block
teach music once a week,
both ants they play the banjo
with a rather strange technique.

Finally there's Mrs Fruit
our truly lovely head,
as a bat she's up all night
so spends all day in bed!.

MY TEACHER SAYS

My teacher says I have to know about the fifty states
And all the presidents and their wives and even famous dates!

She says that I must read each night an hour and a half;
I might think she was joking, but she never ever laughs.

My teacher says that what I learn will help me when I'm grown,
But can't I find all that out by looking on my phone?
