The hat, once replaced, had become his, “Hat Two.”
But now, he’s concerned he’s a figure of fun,
For Hat Two is floating, just under Hat One.
He wondered, “What happens if I get some more?"
Will Hat Three be floating on top of Hat Four?
And what of Hat Five, Hat Six and Hat Seven?
Could I climb up hat rims, and live in hat heaven?”
But while he did wonder, and ponder anew,
He found the next day there were more things that flew,
Like paintings, and all of the books on the shelf,
And postcards of monkeys…
And also himself!
This didn’t disturb him, not one little jot.
“I like to be floating, I like it a lot.
But not for the reasons you’d think, it’s just that,
A gentleman needs, a gentleman’s hat,
And look at me closely, look closely,” he said,
“For while I am floating... My hat’s on my head!”.
